Governors Overview

The Woodlands Federation consists of the three primary schools, Broad Oak Community Primary, Dallington Church of England Primary and Punnetts Town Community Primary. There is a single governing body over the Federation made up of 17 governors consisting of three parent governors, three staff governors, one local authority governor, three foundation governors, the executive headteacher, six co-opted governors and three associate members who are the heads of each of the schools.

The governing body is made up of people from a variety of backgrounds. School governors work with the executive headteacher and are responsible for setting the strategic direction of the school. If you would like to become a school governor please contact the executive headteacher to find out about any vacancies.

There are three sub-committees: Finance, Health and Safety and Learning Standards as well as the Full Board. The role of the governors is to determine the aims and values of the school, keeping under review the broad policies, plans and procedures within which the Woodlands Federation operates. The three sub-committees meet to review the activities in their fields of interest.

The governors visit the schools regularly to observe and to aid understanding of the pupils’ needs so that these can be included in the schools plans.
